The Harmony House music series continues Saturday, April 24 when Tim Grimm performs in northern Fannin County following his show at the Texoma Earth Day Festival.

If you are surprised that Grimm, an actor who had a role in the new major motion picture Public Enemies  along with Johnny Depp, will be performing at a house concert in the peaceful rolling hills near Ravenna, Texas, then you probably have a few more surprises coming.

For instance, did you know that 2010 Texas Musician of the Year Sara Hickman entertained a small audience in the cozy confines of Harmony House?

Bob Livingston, bass player on Michael Murphey's classic Geronimo's Cadillac and a founding member of The Lost Gonzo Band found his way to Harmony House, as well.

In 2009, Bob Livingston completed a musical and cultural exchange tour sponsored by the U.S. State Department to France, Switzerland and several nations in Africa, but he also traveled down a gravel road in Fannin County to play at Harmony House.

This remarkable musical venue, the brainstorm of Faye Wedell and Scott Lipsett, may just be the best-kept musical secret around.

And, surprisingly, a lot of people still seem baffled by the phrase, house concert.

"The first house concert was probably in a cave with some guy named Og beatin' on a drum," quips performer Fran Snyder.

In Mozart's day it was quite common for classic musicians to entertain in wealthy patron's houses, Snyder adds.

Fans of house concerts say the advantages of watching talented artists in small, intimate settings are obvious; no traffic, no problem parking, no big crowd to contend with -- just great entertainment with the musician only a few feet away.

Grimm is scheduled to do a few songs at the Texoma Earth Day Festival April 24 and then head east for what is certain to be another memorable concert at Harmony House.

Can't make it Saturday?  Then go ahead and circle May 7 on the calendar.  That's when Jack Williams, a man Peter Yarrow calls "the best guitar-player I've ever heard," comes down the road to Harmony House
